5 Interesting Facts About Fotona5D You Should Know Before Your Treatment

Psst. Heard all about SL Aesthetic Clinic’s proprietary Fotona5D Laser Lift treatment from your friends, family or the media? You’re not alone. I’m here to share 5 interesting facts about this novel skin tightening treatment that’s taking Singapore by storm!

  1. SL Aesthetic Clinic doctors from Singapore came up with Fotona5D.

Team of SL Aesthetic Clinic doctors behind the improved protocol

Doctors at SL Aesthetic Clinic thought long and hard about how to improve upon Fotona4D. A eureka moment dawned upon us after having done a few hundred Fotona4D cases. As the name implies, we added a 5th tightening laser to the 4 already used in the older protocol. We doubled the treatment time, from a typical 30 minutes to 1 hour. Next, we increased the size of the treated areas to include the frontal hairline and the back of the neck. Fotona4D, Ultherapy and Thermage FLX do not treat these areas.  We are very proud to have this proprietary treatment at SL Aesthetic Clinic, right here in Singapore. Fotona5D is also featured in Channel NewsAsia Lifestyle (CNA Lifestyle)  and Today Online.

  2.  Fotona is one of the oldest laser companies in the world.

Fotona is an Europe-based laser company founded in 1964 and headquartered in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Back then, Harold Maiman just invented the world’s very first operable ‘ruby’ laser 4 years ago in 1960. More than half a century later, Fotona is a world-leading medical laser company today, recognized for its innovative, award-winning laser systems. Fotona conceptualizes, produces and tests every laser system to ensure the highest quality. Fun fact: The company has one of the most highly educated workforces in the industry. They boast an exceptionally high number of PhDs specializing in laser and medical technology!

  3. It all started with 3D, 4D… and then 5D

Dr. Luis Mansilla unofficially introduced Fotona3D in 2012. He used 3 different lasers back then to rejuvenate the facial skin from inside the mouth and from the outside. His method was reported but not made into a official treatment protocol.  3 years later, Fotona4D using 4 different lasers became an official treatment protocol in 2015. From 2015 to 2019, Fotona4D became increasingly popular as more patients experienced this innovative, non-surgical face lifting treatment. After 4 comes 5 and SL Aesthetic Clinic doctors introduced Fotona5D in 2020 after much research and development.

  4. It is suitable for all skin tones.

We all know that laser treatments are not suitable for all skin tones, notably those with darker skin. Some lasers and intensed-pulsed light treatments cannot be done in darker-skinned customers as they may result in burns or further darkening of their skin. However, Fotona5D is suitable for patients of all skin tones due to its specific wavelengths and type of laser used. As a result, almost everyone is able to enjoy the beneficial rejuvenation effects of Fotona5D without having to worry about complications. The long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser in Fotona5D is in fact the gold standard method of hair removal in Indian patients!

  5. Fotona5D takes a much longer time to perform than Fotona4D.

While some clinics complete a Fotona4D treatment within 20 minutes, our Fotona5D protocol requires precision, patience and experience to perform. Each of our doctor have performed numerous cases of this complex procedure. It takes upwards of 1 hour to do a Fotona5D procedure for the face, and 1.5 hours to do a treatment for the face and neck. Although a treatment takes longer, the results from each session are better and fewer treatment sessions are needed. As a result, our patients enjoy time and cost savings compared to doing the older 4D protocol.
