You may already be familiar with the latest injectable treatment on the market – Profhilo. Profhilo contains highest concentration of hyaluronic acid among injectable skin rejuvenators in the market. It serves as a quick skin booster to hydrate the skin, and also remodels ageing and saggy skin.
‘Can we do Profhilo on forehead?’
This is a question we get asked a lot by our customers.
Interestingly, the 5 injection points (BAPs, or bioaesthetic points) are all located on the lower face. The rationale behind this is to lift and improve drooping of the lower face with age. Does this mean that it cannot improve the skin on the forehead? Thankfully the answer is no. Profhilo can actually be injected to the forehead as well!
Doctors at SL Aesthetic Clinic have performed many Profhilo treatments and are able to adapt the protocol to improve the forehead. During the procedure, Profhilo can be injected into 2 to 4 precisely chosen points on the forehead. Over the next few days to weeks, the Profhilo starts to benefit the skin of the forehead via hydration and collagen stimulation. Hyaluronic acid gradually releases from the injected sites and diffuses in the dermal layer of our skin. This stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin through a process called bio-remodeling.
Hence, Profhilo creates a natural youthful fullness and reduces wrinkles by improving the forehead skin’s elasticity and moisture levels. Many customers like the subtle, yet natural improvements to the forehead compared to dermal fillers, which may result in an ‘over-filled’ forehead if not done well.
Is Profhilo better than Botox?
Profhilo and Botox improve forehead wrinkles in different ways. Profhilo works by improving the skin quality through stimulating collagen and hydration. In contrast, Botox works by relaxing the muscles that are responsible for causing the wrinkles. They are synergistic in helping us achieve a more youthful upper face and should both be done for the best result.
Can Profhilo be done at the same time as Botox?
We recommend doing Botox on your forehead either 1 week before or 1 week after your Profhilo on forehead treatment. This is to prevent the release of hyaluronic acid from affecting the localized effect of Botox.
How many sessions do I need?
2 to 3 sessions of monthly Profhilo injections are needed for best results, just like for the standard injection protocol. However, this also depends on our doctor’s professional assessment on the severity of the problem. Drier, thinner skin will require more sessions. For maintenance, we recommend doing a treatment every 6 – 9 months.
You may also wish to combine Profhilo on forehead and face with other skin tightening treatments such as Fotona5D for even better results.
Why do Profhilo on forehead with SL Aesthetic Clinic?
SL Aesthetic Clinic doctors have much experience with the injection of Profhilo on forehead. It is paramount to seek experienced doctors who have a firm understanding of the anatomy and safe injection techniques. This is because the forehead is a sensitive area with many nerves and blood vessels.
Is there downtime from the procedure?
After injection, there will be a small ‘bump’ to indicate that Profhilo has been injected into the right layer of skin. However, the bumps will be significantly smaller the next day after the injection as the hyaluronic acid is gradually released. The bumps may take a few days to fully subside, depending on individual response. This is slightly longer than the bumps take to disappear in the lower face as the skin of the forehead is thinner.
There is a small risk of bruising with this treatment, as with all injectable treatments. Bruising is usually minor and goes away spontaneously after a few days, in the rare event that it happens.
Is there any pain after the procedure?
While there is some discomfort during the procedure, this should not persist after the procedure. The discomfort when injecting Profhilo on forehead is similar as injecting it on the lower face. You may resume all daily activities.
